This was my first time using Prof. Gatsby's and what a fantastic experience! I learned of the company from an ad display at the CVS in Woodbury. The job: regular maintenance on my AC.
Joe was the technician and he was great--super friendly and thorough. I've used other local companies and they were in and out in 20 minutes but not Joe. Joe was different and better--he flushed the system, hosed off the outside unit, tested the output temperatures and more and kept me updated along the way. Prior to the appointment I received text and email reminders. What was really impressive was that I received a text when Joe was on the way and it included his name, photo and a brief bio that included his hobbies--it took away the uneasiness of a "stranger" coming over. I don't remember who I spoke to on the phone to schedule the appointment but she was kind, professional and informative.

Update! I used Prof Gatsby again, this time to fix a dripping tub faucet and a bathroom sink that regularly clogged for no reason. Previous attempts by others to resolve the problems were unsuccessful. Bob, from Prof Gatsby arrived on time. He was super nice and great at explaining things. He provided options with zero pressure on me to make a fast decision. I decided what I wanted and let Bob work his magic. It's been a few weeks since the repairs and I could not be happier! Everything looks great and works great.

I highly recommend Professor Gatsby’s for all HVAC and plumbing needs. This past weekend, Craig was dispatched to our home to diagnose and repair a pipe leak.

He quickly assessed the problem and repaired it and then went above and beyond to make sure to find the cause of the problem to try to prevent it from happening in the futuee.

He then came back later in the week to do an additional equipment replacement with Patrick.

Both were not only highly professional but also great customer service and attention to detail.

They don’t make the customer feel badly asking questions and it’s great to get the answers as a homeowner who doesn’t have the same knowledge.

Look no further than Professor Gatbsy’s. You will NOT be disappointed.

6/2/25- John M. came today to install Reme Halo. He was super nice and very thorough in explaining to me the process of Reme Halo installation. John is an amazing service technician.

I had a great experience with Professor Gatsby. Chris and his partner did a terrific job in installing the air conditioner. After the air conditioning installation was done, Chris fully explained what he did to me. He answered all the questions I had.

The entire process with this company was the way it should be but often is not. This is the company to go with if you need a new HVAC system.Brandon was patient and knowledgeable. He answered countless calls and texts with outstounding customer service. Brian and Kyle U provided excellent service installing my themestat with a friendly attitude. They worked around my schedule. Kyle, Brian K, and Chris explained everything they were doing and spent an entire day and night non stop making sure I had heat. The system has been great. Update review: James E has serviced my system 2x and his professionalism from the.time he calls to the time he leaves .

We had a great experience with Professor Gatsby’s heating & cooling.
They were here when they said they would be.
They were very friendly and respectful. As we had new carpet put in and they respected our request to put shoe covers on when walking on the new carpet.
They took the time to show us all the work that was done and took the time to explain the system. Making sure we knew how to work the system and answering any questions that we had. They didn’t leave till they were 100% sure we had all our questions and concerns answered.
I would highly recommend them and would definitely use them in the future.

Joe C is the man! A/C went down, I was able to schedule online for them to come out, Joe came right out, told me exactly what the issue was, I gave him the go ahead to fix it, he got us back up and running in no time. Time frame was 12-4, he came at exactly 12! (Which is huge because who wants to wait around) I was so happy I ended up asking to do a maintenance plan so I don't have to worry about this again 😅

Power at my house recently went out and when it kicked back on it messed up my AC unit. Called Gatsby who was referred by a family member and they came over within 24 hours. Ryan Carr was super nice and even explained to me in detail exactly what went wrong with my system. Shockingly a week later my fathers AC and heating unit went and he called right up to get a new system installed. Highly recommended.

Our AC outdoor unit was not working properly. Mike set up an appointment for the next day, on a Sunday. The emergency charge was not excessive. Joe came out, assessed the situation, and made recommendations. Furi called because the parts were under warranty, and the estimate would be adjusted. Joe was back out in less than a week and had things up and running. Service was excellent, the price was fair, and we look forward to working with the company in the future.

P.S. My daughter uses Professor Gatsby as well. They replaced her HVAC system and did some plumbing work for her.

We recently had our entire HVAC system replaced by Professor Gatsby's as the previous one finally bit the dust after almost 30 years.

We had gotten several quotes from reputable companies in the area. To be honest, the spread of prices was narrower than I expected. I will say that Professor Gatsby's was the highest initially, but we made some concessions on single vs dual stage blower etc and were able to reach a price that we were happy with. Especially since it included attic air-sealing and adding blown-in insulation.

Brandon Simpkins was very helpful in explaining all the work that would be done in detail as well as laying out our options. He also helped walk us through the process of applying for and getting all the rebates and financing for the project, and was able to get the installation of a whole-home humidifier included in the project scope as well. He was also very communicative, responding promptly to any questions/calls we had.

On install day, the crew from Professor Gatsby's showed up at 7:30AM as promised, ready to go. The install crew was at the house all day until almost 5PM and they were busy the entire time. I will say though, it is an extremely clean-looking installation. Even to the detail of the wire/pvc/gas routing you get the feeling that it was done to a high standard, and the space was clean as a whistle when they left. Jose, Jacob, and Lee were all communicative, friendly, detail-oriented, and you could tell they cared about the quality of the work. Jose, the head installer for the day, was especially communicative and kept me up to date about install progress, encouraging me to take a detailed look multiple times and ask questions so that I was fully comfortable with everything.

Now I am just waiting for the paperwork so that I can get the township to come out for the inspection for the final permit approval. To be honest, I don't expect them to find much of anything. And if they do, I am confident that Professor Gatsby will resolve it promptly and courteously.

Between the clear, detailed, and friendly communication, the flexibility on scope of work to adjust for pricing, and the quality of the install, I can only give praise so far. The equipment installed carries a strong warranty for labor and parts as well. Fingers crossed I won't have to use those warranties but they are invaluable to have for peace of mind.

After a thorough inspection of our heating and air conditioning systems,our serviceman recommended replacing both,particularly since each system had reached the 20-year mark.
Ordinarily,the decision to replace them would have been one which required a lot of thought and consideration on our part.
But fortunately,the inspection was done by a serviceman from Professor Gatsby's.Thanks to a suggestion from a friend two years ago,we have used them for other inspections and services,and have been very pleased with their thoroughness and overall professionalism,at a reasonable cost.
The Gatsby team arrived at our house precisely at the arranged time(that in itself seems like a rarity with service people these days)
They went right to work. This was an especially challenging assignment,since our considerably sized heater was in the attic,with a very narrow entry point.So not only was it tricky to remove and bring down the old heater down the ladder,but of course the new one had to be brought up.
The crew worked diligently.
One of the things that really impressed us was that they showed a true sense of teamwork.
Well,after several hours,the work was done.Both the heater and AC unit were tested,and to say that we were pleased with the results would be an understatement!
The team also gave us a very thorough explanation of all the work that they had done,and answered all of the questions that we had for them.
If we had hired another company to have the work done,the results might have not been as satisying for us.
But the Professor Gatsby's team were superstars.Their hard work and professionalism brought us great satisfaction and we couldn't be happier with the results!

From installation of new heater & AC units, to maintenance on both, everyone is both professional and friendly. I have been a customer for about a year and had problems with my old system. Their efforts to try to keep that one working were in vain as it was an old unit that had outlived it’s time and I made the decision to have both units replaced. All of the staff, in the office to the maintenance techs to the installation techs, are great. Happy to recommend Gatsbys after using Hutchinson for 15 yrs whose service had been declining.

Highly recommend!! The Professor Gatsby team is the best. Everyone is very knowledgeable and honest. Charles gave us all our options and did not try and sell us a plan we did not need or could afford. All the pictures posted was installed in 1 day! Brian, Kevin, Ryan and Kyle did an awesome job on a very hot day in July. There was also a team who worked on the insulation in an extremely hot attic (I forget their names. Sorry!) Matt checked in at the end of the day to check on the work. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. We did the complete energy efficient over haul. We feel the difference! Looking forward to lowering those energy bills!!

We recently had the pleasure of having Professor Gatsby replace our 17 year old HVAC unit. We could not be more satisfied with their pricing, scope of work, and the level of service provided. We weren't sold anything we did not need. The installation team worked tirelessly to get the job finished in one day. They were so friendly, neat, and extremly informative. Joe (Corson) was a pleasure to deal with. I had a scheduled window between 10 and 2 and he showed up right at 10! He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, explaining everything he was doing in detail and offered helpful advice on what needed to be taken care of. Craig was amazing. He was professional and polite with explaining everything that was a issue. Highly recommend using this company, I called a few other before I found Gatsbys and got no call back from them. Quick response time and Craig got here a half hour within the 4 hour expected time. 100% these are my guys for anything.

Bob was quick and efficient, gave me multiple options for fixing the valve that broke ( replace the cheap valve or use something a bit better but more expensive), and was very professional in his work. Additionally, he was just an incredibly pleasant guy, very personable and I would gladly have him back to fix anything further that might arise.

Another happy customer and another successful visit by Professor Gatsby. I had first heard of them years ago, when Rich Zeoli read their sponsorship ad on 1210 WPHT and have since requested their services about a half dozen times, which includes the maintenance program visits. Today, April 14th, technician James came out and was great. I was impressed how thorough he was and answered all questions without hesitation. What I thought was going to be one of those "in and out" jobs that some other places do, was filled with attention to detail and over an hour of visitation. Would and will recommend Professor Gatsby to friends and family.
